Unveiling new travel tech platform Melon spurs Corporate Traveller’s best day since the start of the pandemic

Corporate Traveller, the UK’s largest Travel Management Company (TMC) specialising in business travel services for SME companies, has announced that in August and September 2021 it signed a combined total of 148 new clients.

Following a successful July, Corporate Traveller’s continued growth shows strong desire for the return of business travel post the outbreak of COVID in March 2020. The business wins in August and September have brought in an increase of 160% in revenue in this period compared to the pre-pandemic figures from 2019.

These 148 SME clients come from a diverse range of industries. Revenue from the energy, finance & banking, manufacturing, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, technology, food & beverage and healthcare industries made up over 65% of Corporate Travellers income in this period.

These successes come alongside the global launch of Corporate Traveller’s new proprietary travel management platform, Melon, in September 2021. The first full day after unveiling Melon in the UK, Corporate Traveller saw its best day since the start of the pandemic, with a 308% increase in enquiries.

In September, Corporate Traveller predicted an upcoming boom in business travel, with Head of Customer Success James McIlvenna, announcing future bookings for Corporate Traveller had returned to 2019 levels.

James McIlvenna, Head of Customer Success for Corporate Traveller, said “September saw a wave of good news hit the travel industry, from the simplification of UK travel rules to the announcement that the US would open up its borders once more to travellers in November. These changes, alongside Corporate Traveller’s own innovation via Melon, have bolstered traveller confidence to contribute to our most successful period since the start of the pandemic.”

“Corporate Traveller is uniquely placed to offer bespoke advice to SMEs returning to travel, and we encourage these companies to reach out to us for advice on how to amend travel policies, reorganise opportunities in their programme in order to save money, and find the right travel providers for their employees to ensure they travel safely and with peace of mind.”

Melon will begin onboarding new UK customers from early 2022, with its intuitive design and simple navigation including a host of innovative features, developed in response to the evolving expectations of an increasingly travel hungry, tech-savvy and budget conscious workforce.

Notes to Editors:

The onboarding of existing UK customers to Melon is underway, with new UK customers expected to have access to Melon from early 2022.
