Coupled Up @ Corporate Traveller

Move over, Love Island. This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating the couples that have found love while working at Corporate Traveller or our parent company Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG).
Let’s find out how these couples met and what they love about working together.
This Valentine’s Day, meet just some of the couples who met and fell in love at Corporate Traveller.

Luke & Grace

How did you end up working together?

It was actually COVID that saw us working in the same offices! After 10 years of working together and similar pathways through Flight Centre’s leisure brands to Corporate Traveller, we’d never worked together in the same office until the reshuffle caused by COVID.

What have been the highs of working with your partner?

It was definitely helpful in our early years to have an understanding partner who knew why we were attending so many suppliers nights or work nights out. Also, we’ve ended up with so many close mutual friends over the years!

Why do you think there are so many couples working together here?

Naturally the types that are hired at FCTG tend to be relatively likeminded, certainly when it comes to a love of travel and socialising. For anyone that wants to make friends or meet someone, there’s always opportunities for nights out and social events.

Kim & Nikki

How did you end up working together?

We were in different areas but would always gravitate towards each other at Team Leader Conferences until one night Kim plucked up the courage to make a move! We no longer work in the same brand but as the Corporate Traveller culture is so inclusive, we often cross paths.

What have been the highs of working with your partner?

We both have a passion for travel (obviously) so we have been able to travel the world together.

Why do you think there are so many couples working together in here?

The culture is so unique and allows likeminded people to flourish. ‘Flighties’ are drawn to each other – we are also lifers! Nikki is in her 20th year working at Flight Centre and Kim 16 years with the company, so the people who meet at FCTG grow up together.

Carly & Claudio

How did you end up working together?

Claudio and I actually met at Flight Centre’s Global Gathering in Cancun in 2013! After touching down after the event, I had an email from Claudio, and the rest is history! We worked in separate offices at that point, it wasn’t until about 2016 when we both ended up in the same office. Sitting next to each other at work every day, and spending every moment out of work together wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but we love it!

What have been the highs of working with your partner?

Doing the same job means we always have someone we can vent to, celebrate with, and ask for help. We both know what a stressful day can feel like and we are a team, inside and outside of work.

Why do you think there are so many couples working together here?

Flight Centre is excellent at recruiting likeminded individuals. Everyone who works here shares the same passion – exploring the big, beautiful, crazy, difficult, exciting planet we call home!

If you need further proof of just how much we put Cilla Black to shame, two people in every team Carly has worked in since starting here 13 years ago have been in FCTG relationships.

Vince & Rob

How did you end up working together?

Vince: Rob was working in Corporate Traveller for two years before I took the step into the travel industry. I saw how much fun he was having and how varied his role was. I felt I had reached my peak in Fashion Management so took the plunge – and never looked back.

What have been the highs of working with your partner?

Being able to share in company perks such as the social events, especially now we have our son! Rob has been fortunate enough to go to several Global Gatherings; and seeing how respected he was and how successful he became gave me a nice sense of pride.

It helps to know the pressures of the role. Plus, to have the mutual understanding and feel valued that sometimes our roles are not 9-5, and require attention outside of the usual trading business hours, so our clients are serviced correctly.

On a side note- we have been thankful to FCTG for allowing us to travel the world with our son Roman so he can experience what the world has to offer from such a young age.

Why do you think there are so many couples working together here?

Likeminded people are always mixing and meeting all the time. I think it maybe this element of the business that creates couples. It could also be like myself and Rob, a referral.
